Dragon Poem
The dragon blew a fiery breath.
His tiny wings take him everywhere.
The dragon had the legs of a kangaroo
And a plethora of scales like a fish.
The dragon grew the size of five buildings.

A superhero; his name is Batman
He runs around saving from the Joker’s plan
Falls short of a bat; he cannot fly
And he is awfully shy.
--Maria M., Maria O., Jose, Saul, Katie

That silly Justin Bieber
Spreading around a nasty fever.
He went to jail.
Wish he hadn’t paid bail.

Magical Creatures: the Werewolf
Werewolves are big, grey, and scary.
They bite with vicious, sharp teeth.
They hunt for juicy, fat meat.
When the moon comes out, the werewolf howls.
They sleep all day and howl all night.
--Daphne, Hailey, Marissa, Athena, Felipe, Martin
From the villain's point of view. . .
I’m tired of being the bad guy.
I want to win a medal for bravery
instead you throw me in the slammer;
I want fans to embrace and adore me;
instead they run after me and call out names.
I want to be rich, famous, and spoiled.
Instead I’m forced to steal all your possessions.
And risk my freedom for things.
--Daphne, Hailey, Marissa, Athena, Felipe, Martin
Robin's Lament
Batman gets all the glory
while I do most of the work.
He treats me like a footstool.
while he sits upon the throne.
He drives his fancy Bat Mobile
while I run out of break by its side.
He has all the cool tools
while I am his personal shield.
I wish it were Robin and Batman
so I could call all the shots.
From big brother's viewpoint. . .
You think he’s cute and sweet
and adore his tiny perfect feet.
But he’s really a little pest.
You treat him like a miniature king
and over him you coo and sing.
But when you’re distracted and when you leave
he becomes my absolute worst pet peeve.
Please, please give away my brother Steve.
