Chapter 1 :
Orion thought about the King Gepher’s announcement. Fight the Hydra? The one that destroyed the kingdom! Orion pictured him coming back with an immense scar. He wanted to become the greatest of the hunters. This would prove to the whole town of Olympus he would become the greatest of them all. He decided that he would do this impossible task.
The large castle doors gleamed above Orion. He walked up the marble staircase and set off for the throne room. King Gepher was delighted.
“What are you waiting for? Chop chop cheerio and get out of here! The kingdom needs you! Here’s what you need,” King Gepher said quickly and excitedly in his Schervish accent. He handed Orion a sack and left him on the throne room floor speechless and breathless. Why had he chose to do this task, it would only get him killed.
At home, Orion tossed his sack at the corner of his bed he would check the bag later. He first thought that he should get with the thing that was most important the tools. He first sharpened his arrowheads until with one prick the skin would throb. Then he loaded his bag full of arrows. His eyes started to droop, he was confused and tired and stressed, he couldn’t work anymore and he fell asleep.
Chapter 2:
That night Orion dreamed of a dark, ruthless cave. He was holding a small torch to light his way. Rocks crunched underneath his bare, cut feet. A humongous flash of lightning struck the sky leaving a tree turn into ashes and dust. The rocks were even more rough and rigid than they were before. The cave grew as dark as night leaving Orion a torch as his only light source. His heart was beating like a drum. Orion felt his body grow numb and then he couldn’t breathe.
That morning, Orion woke up and he was gasping for air. He saw a blood puddle by the floor of his wooden bed. His feet were scraped like a cat gnawed on them. He limped to a water bucket and soaked his feet. The blood that oozed out of his cuts weren’t red, they were black. He decided to rest, read the scrolls, and look in the satchel King Gepher gave him. Carelessly, Orion dumped the contents out of the bag and onto the bed. There lay a glass thumb size bottle, a dirt caked beat up scroll, a dagger, and a beat up dust filled book. Orion sat down and thought of what he would do to kill the great and powerful Hydra. A glass bottle would be no use Orion thought.
Orion looked at the worn down book. “Blah blah blah, ahhhha! Found it1 How to kill the Hydra!” Orion read in a deep booming voice. He looked at the page and Orion howled in a deadly scream “ The page is ripped! Who would do such a thing.” Orion calmed down and glanced at the scroll. It said:
Dear brave men or women,
The letter is concealed in a package. Use dagger or heart.
From, The Keeper
“That’s it?” Orion remarked. What letter? I don’t know what the heart is, but at least I got the dagger. “The Keeper didn’t tell me what to with the bottle. I ‘ll guess find out what to do with the bottle when I get there.” He packed some food, the scrolls, the bottle, and the book in a satchel, but he forgot one thing, the thing that would help him the most. The dagger.
Chapter 3:
The day had come. Once he got on the armor, he felt bright and ready to become the greatest hunter of all. He grabbed the satchel, not caring to check what was in it. As he walked down the sandy path, the path got unfamiliar to him he started to second-guess himself. Was this the way that the townsfolk told of? Should he bring his arrows? He stopped every few seconds to look around and check.
As the sandy path came into a vast area of lifeless plants and a rocky, rough cave hidden underneath the brush, Orion thought that this was probably the place where the Hydra lived. He trembled near the cave and slowly stumbled into the cave. Blood streaks lined the cave’s walls. Long blood red stained vines dangled from the rooftop, arrows pinned in all different angles.
“ Hello,” Orion called out. The sound echoed far into the cave. A hiss echoed back. Orion’s heart beat a thousand miles a minute. A hiss. That could only mean the Hydra. Orion reached into his satchel ready to pull out the sharp piercing dagger but to only pull out a apple! Surprised, Orion dumped out his bag only to find no dagger! The only way was to kill her with his heart, but how?
Then, Orion remembered that when he was a young man, he admired Hercules. He wanted to be a great hunter like him, to kill the Hydra. When he killed her, a baby or two still lurked around, the one that Orion wants to kill. Hercules used his own bare hands to kill the Hydra, and Orion thought he might give it a try. As he stepped into the cave he heard the hissing sound again this time louder and angrier. Orion turned around and glanced over his shoulder to find many bright, red glowing eyes glaring at him.
THE WAR WAS ABOUT TO BEGIN!
Chapter 4:
POW! Orion’s punch was as hard as a stampede. It cut the Hydra’s skin and letting the black blood ooze out of the cut, only making it recover and be stronger as quick as a wink. The Hydra’s fangs dug into Orion’s arm, making black venom drip.
Orion’s body grew numb and he saw his arms and legs battered and bruised. The Hydra slashed her claw right at Orion’s eye. His eye was black and red with the blood and the Hydra’s venom and he couldn’t open it. His hands were coated with dirt and streaks of black and red. Orion remembered what the scroll said, “Use your heart to kill the Hydra” and with all his heart punched the Hydra in the face. Black venom oozed out of the Hydra’s nose. Surprisingly, the cut didn’t recover, but the Hydra became stronger and stronger, holding Orion down letting the black venom seep to his neck. This was the end. Orion didn’t succeed. He was dying.
Suddenly, he started to recover. The venom was slowly going away. The Hydra saw this happening. She didn’t want to lose like her mother. She flew as high as she could, and wasn’t aware of the hot sun. She flew straight into the burning hot sun, and burst into stars and still stays there today. Orion the hunter is up in the sky to defend the stars and sky from the Hydra.
