Edward turned on the television and flipped to the news. He was a normal man in a normal house. He was bored though, and lonely as well. He accepted anything that was different because he wanted a change in his normal boring life. He leaned back in his chair and began to stare at the screen.
“Child found dead” said the TV. “Wow, that’s horrible” thought Edward, although he didn’t really care as long as it wasn’t him. He left the TV to go get a glass of milk. As he was pouring he heard something strange on the news. He set down the carton and raced back to the TV spilling his glass of milk along the way. “People disappearing off the face of the earth”. Edward couldn’t believe what he saw on the TV. It was showing a video of a normal city, until someone just disappeared. The lady was just there crossing the street and right before Edward’s eyes, she disappeared. Edward just couldn’t believe it. Was it a joke? But then he did believe it because he disappeared too.

“What the… where…whaaat!!!” Edward was standing in the middle of the jungle holding what was left of his glass of milk. “Run!!!” screamed a voice behind Edward. He turned and saw the lady from the news sprinting towards him. “Huh, so that’s what happened to her” , thought Edward. She crashed into him and kept on running. “Run!!!” she yelled back at him. “Hey, you made me drop my milk”, muttered Edward. Edward looked up, shocked to see a monster. It had a round, flat body with tentacles spilling out that it was using to slither towards Edward. Scythe-like arms came out from underneath its body. It was completely jet black except for a single, red bionic-looking eye that was fixated onto the lady running for her life.
The beast slammed into Edward and continued slithering on, after the lady. Edward got back up and looked in the direction that the lady was running. The monster was gaining on her! When it was just a few feet away, it jumped. Before it could land on the woman, she turned, and pulling a sword from a sheath on her belt she threw it. Instead of hitting the monster however, it sailed over the monster’s head and landed at Edward’s feet. Edward was horrified to see the creature land on top of the woman. From where Edward was standing, he could see the monster lift up its arms and bring them down onto the screaming figure.
Suddenly it got very quiet, and Edward started to tremble. The black hulk was looking at him! It trained its huge bionic eye directly into Edward’s eyes and began slithering in his direction. The hulk was spattered with blood all over its front and sides. Edward picked up the sword, held it out in front of him and closed his eyes. He could hear the scraping sound of the tentacles sliding along the ground, getting louder and louder as the abomination drew near. Edward’s hands were quivering. He was not ready to die. Edward clenched his eyes tighter and tighter. “Please don’t hurt me”, he quavered. He felt a great force at the tip of the sword and he fell over from the impact. The monster had fallen onto him!!! Edward felt his breath swoosh out of him and could he could feel something dripping on him. He slowly and tentatively opened his eyes. The red eye was looming over him. Edward could see the hilt of the sword sticking out of the eye, green blood dripping everywhere.
“Hey…I-I-I-I did it, I beat you,” Edward stammered with a bemused smile. He slid out from under the tentacles and got up, with the creature’s green blood dripping from his clothes. Then, suddenly Edward felt a strange sensation. The world in front of him began to change into something that seemed familiar.
The dead monster turned into a TV. The fallen leaves on the ground around Edward grew into a chair that seemed quite like the chair in Edward’s house. The trees became more solid and soon became like walls.
Soon, Edward was back in his house, holding his milk staring at his TV, only this time the caption on the TV read “People being mugged across the world”, and the picture showed the same city as before, with the same lady crossing the street, only this time she was being attacked and someone was running away with her purse. “Wow, that was sure a vivid daydream” Edward said to himself. He took a sip of his milk and as the shock of what he had just experience settled in, Edward found himself slipping down onto his chair and passing out.
